Teen causes deadly stabbing at house party

RIVERSIDE, CA – A 19-year-old man is in police custody, suspected of perpetrating a stabbing attack at a house party early Sunday morning that left a teenager dead and another injured.

The suspect, Alexandro Romero, was taken into custody by officers from the Riverside Police Department. Police investigations indicate that Romero attacked, with a knife, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man at a house party on the 3400 block of Gay Way. This occurred shortly after midnight, as police initially responded to a noise complaint at the party.

The resulting injuries were severe, with the younger victim dying on the scene and the other rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

While investigators were piecing together events, dispatchers relayed information about a person nearby with a severe head injury. Identified as Romero, the aforementioned suspect, he was further linked to the stabbing.

Following his discharge from the hospital, Romero was placed under arrest and detained in the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, charged with murder. As per jail records, Romero made an initial court appearance Wednesday morning. Currently, he is being held without the possibility of bail.

The ongoing investigation is now a collaborative effort between the Riverside Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities are seeking additional information and local law enforcement has provided contact details for lead detectives and avenues for anonymous tips.
