Teen arrested for murdering two relatives

ELK GROVE, CA – An 18-year-old family member has been arrested following a tragic double homicide early this morning in Elk Grove. The incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., has left the community in shock as police work tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to the shootings.

Authorities responded to a call from a concerned neighbor who reported hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were identified by neighbors as a father and son, although their identities have not been officially released.

Sergeant Jason Jimenez of the Elk Grove Police Department confirmed that the incident was not random and was contained to the residence. “This was an isolated event,” Jimenez stated, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

At the time of the shooting, two additional family members were present. One of them left the house before police arrived but has since been located and is cooperating with investigators. Both family members are currently being interviewed to provide more insight into the situation.

Neighbors described the scene as unsettling in an area typically characterized by its tranquility. “I opened my blinds and saw police vehicles everywhere,” said one resident. The sudden influx of law enforcement vehicles and crime scene tape was a stark contrast to the neighborhood’s usual calm.

Residents expressed disbelief over the incident, noting that the neighborhood is generally quiet and safe. “You never expect something like this to happen here,” another neighbor remarked, echoing a sentiment of confusion and concern shared by many.

The Elk Grove Police Department has not released further details as the investigation remains in its early stages. Detectives are diligently working to understand the motive and circumstances behind the shootings.
