Suspected Car Burglar Begs for Help After Failed Attempt

A suspected car burglar in Shelby County, Tennessee, found himself pleading for help from nearby residents after his intended victim retaliated with gunfire.

An unnamed homeowner living in the Webster’s Grove subdivision received a call from a neighbor on Thursday evening about multiple individuals standing outside his house. Upon investigating, the homeowner encountered two men in his driveway and two others in a white car on the street.

The suspects in the driveway fled and one of them fired a shot at the homeowner, hitting him in the ankle. However, the homeowner managed to return fire and one of the suspects, Marreo Mays, 18, was arrested.

Mays was seen going door-to-door in the neighborhood seeking help and crying out for someone to pick him up. Mays has been charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle and vandalism.

The homeowner is recovering at home after undergoing surgery on his leg and foot.
