Suspect captured after killing the mother of his child

MESQUITE, TX – After an intense 11-day search, authorities have apprehended a North Texas man accused of murdering his longtime girlfriend. Christopher Witt, 42, was arrested on Thursday, accused of fatally shooting Keisha Hilliard, also 42, at her home on Avis Circle in Mesquite.

The tragic incident unfolded with Hilliard’s two young children present in the house. A chilling account from Witt’s three-year-old son, who reportedly told family members, “Daddy killed Keisha,” prompted a relative to contact the police.

Family members of Hilliard expressed relief at Witt’s arrest, which they hope will bring some closure. “I’m happy he’s finally off the streets,” said Malcolm Hilliard, Keisha’s brother. The family had been left in distress since October 12, when Hilliard was found dead with a gunshot wound to her forehead.

According to a police affidavit, Witt had left the couple’s six-month-old baby and his three-year-old son at his parents’ home before disappearing. Witt’s sister, who received a disturbing call from him admitting he had harmed Hilliard, was further alarmed by her nephew’s revelation about the crime.

The young boy told forensic interviewers he witnessed the shooting, and the gunfire was so loud it hurt his ears. This testimony played a crucial role in understanding the events that transpired that day.

Malcolm Hilliard recounted the moment he learned of Witt’s arrest through a text from his niece, which marked the end of a period of uncertainty for the family. While they are grateful for the community’s support, the pain of losing Keisha remains.

The community has rallied around the Hilliard family, providing support and sharing their story. Meanwhile, Witt has been booked into the Dallas County Jail as the investigation continues.

The arrest marks a step toward justice for Keisha Hilliard, but her family acknowledges that the journey to healing will be long.
