GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – A devastating crash on South Beltline Road near Marshall Drive has left two adults and two children from the same family dead, with street racing cited as the cause. The incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, also left another child from the family in critical condition. Authorities have apprehended one suspect in connection with the crash.
Elisa Arguello was tending to her garden at the Haven Community Garden when the peace was abruptly shattered by the sound of two cars racing past. Moments later, a horrific crash followed. Arguello rushed to the scene, capturing video footage that showed a car engulfed in flames and another vehicle with a mangled front end.
The collision took place outside a Fuel Stop gas station, where employees inside heard the impact and saw the ensuing fire. One worker, who ran outside to assist, described the fire as too intense to approach. Emergency responders arrived quickly but needed 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
Local residents, including Adam Ramirez, have long been concerned about the issue of speeding and street racing on Beltline Road. Ramirez, who lives nearby, pointed out that such reckless driving has been a persistent problem, posing a significant risk to the community. He stressed the suddenness of such tragedies and the urgent need for preventive measures.
Grand Prairie police confirmed that the family was traveling in an SUV when it was struck by a red Charger involved in the street race. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, and the charges they may face are yet to be determined.
