St. Paul Police shooting leaves knife-wielding man dead

On Saturday evening, a man threatening people with a knife in St. Paul, Minnesota, was shot and killed by a police officer. According to local authorities, the police received a call about a man brandishing a knife in the community room of an apartment building around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located the man in the first-floor hallway and asked him to drop the knife. However, the man advanced towards one of the officers, causing them to retreat.

In an effort to subdue the man, one officer deployed a taser while another officer fired shots, striking the man. The exact number of shots fired by the officer has not been disclosed by the St. Paul Police Department. Despite rendering aid to the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officers involved in the incident were equipped with body cameras which captured the entire encounter. As per standard procedure, the officers have been placed on administrative leave while the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates the shooting.
