CINCINNATI, OH – Six individuals have been indicted following a violent altercation involving takeout pizza near the University of Cincinnati’s campus. The incident, which occurred last month, involved the assault of three people who were walking home with their food.
Prosecutors report that the six accused—Austin Smith, Joshua and Hailey Hornsby, Deontay Conyers, Braydon Hall, and Kenneth Bowlin—allegedly attacked the victims in the early hours of September 13. The confrontation began when the victims refused to relinquish their pizza.
The accused appeared in court virtually, each pleading not guilty to charges that include aggravated rioting and felonious assault. According to the prosecution, one victim was struck in the head from behind and subsequently knocked unconscious.
Deontay Conyers faces additional charges due to firearms discovered in his registered vehicle. Investigators allege that Conyers participated in the initial assault. The victim reportedly suffered a broken jaw, a black eye, and multiple cuts and bruises.
Another victim attempted to defend his friend and sustained a concussion and a dislocated jaw. A female victim also suffered facial injuries during the incident.
Bond amounts for the defendants range from $150,000 to $500,000, varying based on individual involvement and charges.
