Sanitation workers find body of missing woman

PLAIN TOWNSHIP, OH – The body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered by sanitation workers in the southwestern part of Canton, Ohio. The victim, Raychel Sheridan of Plain Township, had been reported missing by her mother earlier this week. Stark County Sheriff George Maier announced in a press conference that authorities suspect foul play, allegedly involving Sheridan’s live-in boyfriend, 26-year-old Sean Goe.

Upon conducting a welfare check at Sheridan’s apartment, police noted the front door was open, and the inside showed signs of suspicious activity. While authorities were waiting to obtain a search warrant for the premises, a maroon Jeep Liberty belonging to Sheridan was spotted in the vicinity.

The driver, later identified as Goe, fled on foot when police conducted a traffic stop, disappearing into a nearby wooded area.

Following their search of the apartment, police discovered evidence indicating Sheridan had been murdered there, stated Maier. The cause of Sheridan’s death has yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.

Goe was apprehended early Wednesday at a Canton homeless shelter. He currently faces charges of burglary, grand theft of a firearm, and multiple misdemeanor counts of domestic violence involving Sheridan. Court documents reveal he allegedly stole a handgun from a North Canton residence in April, and physically threatened and vandalized Sheridan’s property in May. Goe is being held at the Stark County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Jennifer Yarnell, a friend, neighbor, and coworker of Sheridan, opened up about the young woman’s troubled relationship. She told WOIO that she had witnessed the violent dynamics between Sheridan and Goe firsthand and had advised Sheridan to leave. Sheriff Maier described the tragic end of Sheridan’s life as “unimaginable.”
