LAS VEGAS, NV – A quiet Las Vegas neighborhood was shaken late Tuesday afternoon when an argument between roommates escalated into a deadly shooting. The incident occurred on the 3600 block of North Campbell Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Authorities received a 911 call around 4:45 p.m. reporting a heated dispute between roommates that had tragically resulted in gunfire. Responding officers from the Northwest Area Command arrived swiftly and secured the scene, apprehending the suspect without further incident.
Inside the residence, officers discovered the victim on the kitchen floor, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by officers to provide first aid, the victim was pronounced dead upon the arrival of medical personnel.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. Preliminary findings suggest that the altercation arose from an eviction dispute between the victim, who was the landlord, and the alleged shooter, his roommate. Tensions flared, and the evicted roommate reportedly brandished a firearm, fatally shooting the landlord.
Police have assured the community that this appears to be an isolated incident, posing no ongoing threat to public safety. However, they urge anyone with information about the case to contact the LVMPD homicide division or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine if there were any prior altercations between the roommates. Both the victim and the suspect, described as males in their late 30s, shared the home with two other individuals. At the time of the shooting, one roommate was inside, while another was outside in the yard.
The police have confirmed that the weapon used in the shooting is now in custody.
