Rideshare passenger killed in drive-by shooting

NASHVILLE, TN – Authorities report that a fatal shooting within a rideshare vehicle left a 26-year-old man dead over the weekend in Nashville, Tennessee. The victim, identified as Stephen Rouse III, succumbed to his injuries at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center after being admitted by the Uber driver, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The incident unfolded after Rouse was picked up in the vicinity of Citi Trends store on Clarksville Pike. As narrated by the Uber driver to the authorities, a white Nissan Maxima, which was initially noticed outside Citi Trends, followed their vehicle onto Rosa Parks Boulevard and then onto the I-65/24 split.

Police reports state that the Nissan occupants shot at the Uber, causing fatal injuries to Rouse in the backseat. Despite the violent encounter, the Uber driver continued on I-65, while the Maxima fled the scene via I-24 West.

Following this incident, the Metro Nashville Police Department temporarily closed part of the interstate to locate the shooting scene. As the search for the culprits continues, law enforcement is requesting the public’s assistance on any leads about the white Nissan Maxima or any other details linked to the shooting incident.
