PHILADELPHIA, PA – A postal worker was hospitalized following a confrontation on a narrow street in Frankford, prompting an ongoing police investigation. The altercation occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday while the worker was delivering mail on Park Street.
The incident began when the postal worker parked the mail truck in the middle of the street, a common practice when parking is scarce. Neighbors reported that the carrier typically parks at the corner unless forced to stop briefly for deliveries.
The situation escalated when Fabian Colon, 25, allegedly became agitated after his vehicle was blocked by the postal truck on the one-way street. According to police sources, Colon exited his vehicle, entered the mail truck, and attempted to drive it away. The postal worker intervened by removing the keys from the ignition.
A video of the confrontation, shared on social media, now serves as key evidence for law enforcement. Another video, recorded by a witness, is also being reviewed by investigators.
Once the two exited the vehicle, the postal worker began recording the incident, capturing the escalating tension. A witness noted the frequent double-parking in the area but expressed disbelief over the aggressive response.
Police arrived on the scene shortly after, taking statements and arresting Colon. The postal worker was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Victoria Rodriguez, a local resident, expressed her shock, stating that such incidents contribute to the area’s deteriorating safety. Meanwhile, Colon’s attorney, Amato Anita, declined to comment on the charges his client faces.
The United States Postal Service has pledged to assist authorities with the investigation. There remains the possibility that federal charges could be filed against Colon.
