The incident unfolded late last night when an officer, who had recently completed his training, was fatally shot while sitting in his squad car near a YMCA. According to sources, the officer was ambushed by a suspect who approached the vehicle and fired a fatal shot to the head. Upon arrival, the backup officers encountered the suspect near the squad car. Unaware of the tragic events that had just transpired, they approached the vehicle, only to be met with gunfire. One officer was shot three times and is expected to survive, while a female officer, who was shot in the face, underwent surgery and remains in stable but critical condition.
The suspect attempted to flee the scene, leading police on a high-speed chase north into Louisville. The pursuit ended when the suspect exited his vehicle with a high-capacity rifle, prompting officers to open fire, resulting in the suspect’s death. The Dallas Police Department, along with Texas DPS and Louisville police, are now conducting a thorough investigation.
