Police make gruesome discovery after finding a trail of blood in front of an unlocked door

Law enforcement officials in Texas tracked a “trail of blood” that led them to an unlocked apartment door. As they investigated the disturbing scene, they discovered a man who had been fatally shot.

A spokesperson for the police department provided additional details at a press conference that was recorded by KHOU 11. According to a statement from the department, officers were called to an apartment building just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, January 29 in order to respond to a shooting.

Officers attempted to find the man but were unsuccessful. Upon inspection of the apartment, they observed that the door was open.

Police officers entered the apartment to conduct a welfare check, they said. Inside, they found a man in his twenties lying on the floor. The Houston Fire Department has verified that the man was fatally wounded from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

According to police, there is proof that another individual was shot in the apartment. However, the identity and condition of the other person is still unknown.

Officers are taking this death as a homicide and are still attempting to piece together the events that lead up to the shooting, as well as who the suspects might be.
