Officer shoots dog in pack attack

MIAMI, FL – A tragic incident unfolded in northwest Miami-Dade when a pack of dogs reportedly attacked a woman walking with her young child, resulting in the fatal shooting of one dog by deputies. The incident occurred late yesterday morning near Northwest 64th Street and 22nd Avenue in Gladeview.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call regarding the dog attack. Upon arrival, one dog from the pack charged at a deputy, prompting them to open fire, ultimately killing the animal.

Willie Lloyd, the owner of the deceased dog, stated that only one dog in the pack belonged to him, while the others were strays he occasionally fed. Surveillance footage captured part of the chaotic scene, showing the moments leading up to the deputy’s decision to fire.

Lloyd expressed his distress over the incident, recounting how his dog had managed to dig under a fence and join the pack. He described his pet as a small, black dog with a distinctive brown spot between its eyes.

The woman involved in the attack sustained injuries but was treated on-site without needing hospitalization. Fortunately, her child was unharmed during the ordeal.

Lloyd’s nephew voiced his frustration, highlighting that the dog was small and posed no significant threat. He questioned the necessity of lethal force, expressing grief over the loss of his uncle’s beloved pet.

The sheriff’s office has not released further information about any other animals involved, but Lloyd’s family remains upset about the outcome.
