Nightclub owner arrested for sexual relationship with 14-year-old hire

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A nightclub owner from the East Side is in custody, facing allegations of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Authorities arrested 41-year-old Oscar Merlo Jr. after the teenager, reported as a runaway, disclosed the abuse during an official interview.

Merlo is accused of hiring the underage girl to work at his establishment, Chateau Chanel, located on East Commerce near I-10. The police affidavit reveals that Merlo was aware of the girl’s age and provided her with a fake ID indicating she was 19.

The victim reportedly received $300 to $400 per night for providing bottle service and entertainment in the club’s VIP section. Investigators linked the girl to the nightclub through its social media accounts, which displayed connections between her, Merlo, and the club’s profile. Further posts showed her presence at the venue.

During her interview, the teenager informed investigators of a sexual relationship with Merlo, occurring both at the nightclub and his residence. Police are working with U.S. marshals on this ongoing investigation, focusing on the recovery of missing or runaway minors.

Merlo faces charges of child sexual assault and exploitation, with bonds set at $200,000. He remains in custody at the Bexar County jail.
