OSWEGO, IL – New details have emerged regarding a disturbing incident at a Chick-fil-A in Oswego, where a maintenance worker and his mother are being hailed as heroes. The suspect, Darrell Lee, appeared in court today, revealing an emotional and unsettling scene.
The incident unfolded when Sergio Uribe Jr., a maintenance worker, was attacked while power washing the restaurant early Wednesday morning. His sister, Jenny Green Bay, disclosed that Uribe is still hospitalized with knife fragments lodged in his back, due to the complexity of the injuries.
Kendall County prosecutors have charged 19-year-old Darrell Lee Jr. with the attempted first-degree murder of Sergio Uribe Jr. and the first-degree murder of delivery driver Tracy Land. Authorities allege that Lee used a knife and hammer to kill Land around 3 a.m. as she made a delivery. Two hours later, prosecutors state Lee attacked Uribe.
In a courageous effort, Ana Uribe, Sergio’s mother, witnessed the attack and helped subdue Lee. She managed to call 911 while her son wrestled Lee to the ground, preventing further harm.
Oswego authorities have praised the mother and son for their bravery, describing their actions as heroic. Ana recounted a bizarre interaction with Lee, where he allegedly made cryptic remarks about being targeted, referencing the Bible, which left the family bewildered.
