Mom stabbed in front of her 3-year-old son in broad daylight attack

STATEN ISLAND, NY – In a frightening Staten Island home invasion, a 23-year-old mother was stabbed in front of her young child in the middle of Monday afternoon, officials reported. According to law enforcement, the pair of intruders forced their way into the home around 2:45 p.m., located on Hygeia Place and Boyd Street in Stapleton Heights. Once inside, they attacked the mother, who was at home with her 3-year-old son.

The house raiders hit the woman before stabbing her in the leg. They made a hasty exit from the premises after grabbing an assortment of belongings, including an unspecified amount of cash, a cellphone, a social security card, a wallet, and an EBT card, according to police reports.

The young mother was transported to the nearby Richmond University Medical Centre in the aftermath of the home invasion. She remains in stable condition after medical intervention for her injury. Her young son was fortunately not physically harmed during the traumatic incident.

Law enforcement officials circulated surveillance images of the suspected invaders on Wednesday. The images, captured by a nearby surveillance camera, show the individuals walking on a sidewalk covered in snow. As of Thursday, law enforcement had not yet apprehended the suspects.

In the police descriptions, the male suspect is reported to be about 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, with a dark complexion. He was last spotted wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, and a black ski mask. The female suspect was last seen wearing a black sweater, black sweatpants, and black and white sneakers. Her hair was styled in long braids.

The horrifying event occurred shortly after a similar home invasion in Staten Island’s Manor Heights area was caught on video. In that incident, four burglars are accused of assaulting a woman and her 5-year-old daughter over money and jewelry. As in the Stapleton Heights case, authorities have not yet arrested any suspects.
