Mom and 2 kids found frozen to death in a field

In Michigan, a woman and her two children tragically passed away after being discovered in an open field. They all froze to death in the field. According to authorities, the mother had experienced a mental health crisis prior to their deaths.

At a press conference, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard revealed that 35-year-old Monica Cannady had suspected somebody was trying to murder her. Her paranoia led to her believing that everybody was involved in the plot.

The woman died of hypothermia, and her children died from the same cause as well. Her sons, 9-year-old Kyle Milton and 3-year-old Malik Milton, passed away on January 15th.

At approximately 3:10 in the afternoon, authorities were summoned to a secluded area in Pontiac. They received a report from a ten-year-old girl who had knocked on a door, claiming her family had perished in a field nearby. Later on, it was confirmed that the girl was the daughter of Monica Cannady.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital where her condition was reported to be stable, according to authorities. Once she is released from the hospital, she will live with other family members.

Relatives of Cannady informed detectives that she had faced mental health issues recently and was convinced that the police were part of a plot to take her life, as per a declaration from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials reported that the woman’s family had attempted to provide her with assistance, but she refused to accept it and fled with her kids.

The sheriff’s office reported that over multiple days, they received multiple phone calls regarding a mom and children whose clothing was not suited to the freezing temperatures. Deputies searched for them, but were not able to find anyone.

The daughter, who survived the incident, reported to investigators that her mother had instructed the children to flee if they were encountered by the police, warning that they could not be trusted.

The sheriff stated that when the family was in the field, Cannady instructed the children to lie down and rest, which is where they ultimately passed away.
