Missing man’s dismembered body washes up on NYC beach

BREEZY POINT BEACH, NY – Disturbing news has emerged from Queens as an unidentified body was discovered at Breezy Point Beach on Friday. According to law enforcement sources, the body, partly dismembered and discovered around noon, could potentially be that of Ross McDonnell.

Mr. McDonnell, a 44-year-old Irish filmmaker of Dublin origin, disappeared earlier this month. The acclaimed filmmaker, who was awarded an Emmy for his remarkable cinematography in the Showtime series, “The Trade,” was last sighted leaving his Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, residence on a bicycle on November 4. Authorities later found his locked bicycle at Fort Tilden Beach in Queens.

While the body has not been officially identified, law enforcement’s working theory aligns with the possibility that McDonnell may have drowned after being caught in a current while swimming. However, neither foul play nor suicide is suspected at this stage of the investigation. The definitive cause of death is pending, as New York City’s medical examiner’s office is currently conducting further examination.

As investigations continue to unfold, authorities are collaborating with the Irish consulate while awaiting the results of DNA testing. McDonnell, described as a 5’9″ individual weighing 180 pounds, was last seen dressed in a black shirt, red vest, dark pants, and a black backpack.

Concerned authorities have requested anyone with information about McDonnell’s disappearance to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.
