Manhunt in Texas for abducted child, father implicated in murder

WILMER, TX – A statewide manhunt is underway in Texas for a 10-year-old boy, Ian Aguilar, believed to be in the custody of his father, Juan Aguilar-Cano. The father, aged 38, is also implicated in a murder case, suspected of killing the boy’s mother.

An Amber Alert was activated on Tuesday night, with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department spearheading the investigation. The duo was thought to be traveling in a tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe with Texas plate KVZ1194, which has since been located. However, the child and his father remain missing.

The identity of the mother found dead in the mobile home she shared with her son and Aguilar-Cano on Oakdale Street, has not been publicly disclosed by the authorities. Local residents have informed media outlets that a relative found her body.

The Wilmer Police have voiced serious concerns for Aguilar’s well-being. “We initially received a report of a welfare concern. As we delved deeper into the case, it became evident that a homicide had taken place. Our immediate concern is now the safety of the 10-year-old boy,” said Wilmer Police Chief Victor Kemp.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department has taken over the murder investigation as the Wilmer Police Department lacks a homicide division. Both Child Protective Services and the police have confirmed that there were no previous calls to the family’s home. According to Aguilar-Cano’s criminal records, he has no history of violent offenses.

Aguilar-Cano, described by a neighbor as a “family-friendly, helpful person”, is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs around 160 pounds, and has black hair and eyes. Aguilar, who attends Dallas ISD’s Eddie Bernice Johnson STEM Academy, is approximately 4 feet tall with black hair and brown eyes.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is appealing to anyone with information to call 911 or the Wilmer Police Department at 972-441-6565 immediately.
