PHOENIX, AZ – Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in west Phoenix last weekend. The victim has been identified as 40-year-old William Ray White.
On Sunday, May 5, around 10 p.m., Phoenix police responded to an emergency call about an injured person near 47th Avenue and Brill Street. Upon reaching the location, officers discovered White, who had succumbed to gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After examining surveillance footage, investigators found that the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. The footage revealed an unidentified man riding a bicycle up to White, who was walking behind a business complex. The cyclist drew a firearm and shot White before leaving northward on 47th Avenue. His last known location was 48th Avenue and McDowell Road.
The suspect has been described as a Hispanic or Native American male, estimated to be between 30 to 40 years old. He is of medium build and has dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap sporting a white logo, a gray hoodie over a dark-colored shirt, black athletic shorts, and a pendant necklace.
Local law enforcement is urging anyone with information about White’s murder to reach out to Silent Witness. Successful tipsters leading to an arrest could receive up to a $2,000 reward.
