Man on tether accused in vicious attempted murder of woman

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A disturbing incident unfolded in San Antonio, Texas, as a man is accused of viciously attacking a woman, wrapping her in plastic, and discarding her in a pasture. The suspect was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the alleged assault.

The accused, 31-year-old Roger Gonzalez, was apprehended on Saturday afternoon. The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office reports that the assault on the woman occurred the previous day.

Law enforcement was alerted to an injured woman on the side of Eichman Road around 4 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, deputies found the woman severely beaten, with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat.

In a grim revelation, the sheriff’s office stated on social media, “She was left for dead rolled up in plastic in a pasture.” The woman is currently in a serious but stable condition in a San Antonio hospital.

Throughout Friday night and Saturday morning, investigators pursued leads before filing a complaint and securing an arrest warrant for Gonzalez. The suspect was wearing an ankle monitor during the alleged assault, according to the sheriff’s office.

Gonzalez’s arrest occurred at a residence on Lytle Street, the same street where the victim resides. Local reports suggest that Gonzalez and the victim were in a relationship.

Charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, Gonzalez’s bond was initially set at $40,000. However, post-arrest, the judge increased it to $275,000, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
