SEATTLE, WA – A local man from Seattle has been taken into custody following the tragic shooting death of his infant son, who was just nine months old.
The incident unfolded in the Magnolia neighborhood on Wednesday evening, as per the Seattle Police Department’s online statement. A distressed mother reported to the police that her baby had been shot. Upon arrival, the first responders could only pronounce the infant dead on the scene.
The father was apprehended a few blocks away from the scene later in the evening. As of Friday, he was in custody at the King County Correctional Facility, with bail set at a staggering $5 million.
The 35-year-old suspect reportedly confessed to the police that he had consumed phencyclidine, a potent hallucinogenic drug also known as PCP or angel dust, on the day of the incident.
The man was subsequently charged with murder, assault, and illegal possession of a firearm, as revealed by the court records.
The mother recounted to the police that she was in the bathroom when she heard the gunshot. Upon questioning her husband, he dismissed it as a “blank” shot. However, when she went to check on her baby, she discovered the horrifying truth and immediately sought help.
The mother further disclosed to the police that her husband routinely carried a firearm and had purchased PCP approximately a week prior to the tragic incident.
