High-speed pursuit ends in deadly crash

GLENDALE, CA – A high-speed chase through Glendale ended in tragedy early Tuesday morning when a stolen SUV crashed into a utility pole, killing the driver. The pursuit began around 3 a.m. after Glendale police identified the vehicle as stolen on Chevy Chase Drive.

Officers engaged in the chase, which lasted approximately ten minutes, before the SUV collided with the pole. The impact was severe, wrapping the vehicle around the pole and resulting in the immediate death of the male driver. Details about the driver’s identity have not yet been released.

A second person was in the vehicle at the time of the crash but was not seriously injured, according to police reports. Emergency medical services arrived swiftly at the scene, but the driver was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, focusing on the events leading up to the high-speed pursuit. The Glendale Police Department is examining the possibility of additional criminal activity related to the stolen vehicle.

The intersection where the crash occurred was temporarily closed as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The SUV has since been removed from the scene and taken to an impound lot for further examination.

The coroner’s office is handling the identification process of the deceased driver, with results expected later this week. Meanwhile, Glendale police continue to gather evidence and witness statements.
