Man murders pregnant girlfriend and unborn baby

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – A man from Sterling Heights was charged in court after he allegedly murdered his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child on Sunday.

Officials identified the suspect as Damarion Goler, 31. He is facing charges of second-degree murder, intentional assault of a pregnant individual causing miscarriage, tampering with evidence, and hiding an individual’s death, as stated in a press release by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

The deceased woman, 31-year-old Talic Mersina, was reportedly stabbed by Goler near the entrance of their apartment located at 8312 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights on March 24.

Later, authorities located Goler and Mersina in the victim’s car which was parked at the apartment complex where Goler’s mother resides in Clinton Township. Both Mersina and her unborn child were declared dead.

Following his arraignment, Goler was detained in Macomb County Jail without the possibility of bail. He awaits a probable cause conference slated for April 3 and a preliminary examination scheduled for April 10.

Macomb County Prosecutor, Peter J. Lucido, stated that Goler cruelly took the life of his pregnant girlfriend, a person who trusted him and loved him. Lucido added that such acts are not just crimes against individuals but also against the inherent values of humanity.
