In the Southern California desert, a 12-year-old girl was abandoned by her father after her mother was killed by him.
The girls father allegedly beat her mother and threw her out of the car at a Shell station around 11:45 p.m. Friday.
During the early morning hours of Saturday, deputies found Jesus Jaimes-Rosas’ abandoned vehicle near Barstow, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The statement said Jaimes-Rosas, who was treated at a hospital for unspecified self-inflicted injuries, could face murder charges. His attorney was not immediately available.
The body of Sonia Flores was discovered early on Saturday morning. The charges against Jaimes-Rosas were not filed yet and he has not been released on bail.
Police in San Bernadino have not said what caused the incident or if the man had been known to police prior to the killing.
