Manhunt underway for suspect who shot 16-year-old and a pregnant mother to death

DAYTON, OH – Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect following a tragic double homicide that claimed the lives of a young, pregnant mother and a 16-year-old boy early Wednesday morning. The Dayton Police Department identified the suspect as Nicole Cunigan Jr., who remains at large.

In a somber update, police revealed that one of the victims, 32-year-old Precious Taste, was four months pregnant at the time of her death. Cunigan, also known as Nico, is reported to be the father of Taste’s twin four-year-olds and the unborn child.

“This individual is extremely dangerous,” said Major Brian Johns of the Dayton Police Department Investigations Unit. “He shot his longtime girlfriend, the mother of his children, who was pregnant with his child. If he is capable of such an act, he poses a threat to anyone.”

Cunigan has an extensive criminal record, including charges of felonious assault, child endangering, and weapons violations. He is currently on parole for a felonious assault charge from 2022, where he reportedly stabbed Precious Taste.

Police have urged the public to avoid approaching Cunigan and to contact authorities if they see him. He was last seen driving a white Chevy Malibu, which was later found in Trotwood. Cunigan is described as having bright red and white tips on his hair and is considered armed and dangerous.

“This is a heartbreaking case of domestic violence,” Johns noted. “Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon in our community. The City of Dayton has made significant efforts to support victims through initiatives like the Family Justice Center, which provides resources for children and victims of domestic and sexual violence.”

Authorities continue to search for Cunigan, emphasizing the importance of public vigilance. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police or utilize anonymous crime stoppers services.
