Man fatally shoots his neighbor for using a leaf blower

A 79-year-old Illinois resident, Ettore Lacchei, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his neighbor, William Martys, in Lake County.

The fatal incident occurred following a dispute over Martys using a leaf blower in his yard. According to the authorities, Lacchei shot Martys in the head around 7:35 p.m.

Deputies found Martys unresponsive and bleeding in his driveway and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Subsequent investigations revealed that Lacchei had held various perceived grievances against Martys prior to the tragic incident, which authorities have deemed senseless.

Authorities recovered a firearm, believed to be the murder weapon, near Lacchei’s property line. He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Lacchei is currently being held in custody at the Lake County Jail.

William Martys, a construction worker, was a father of four and a devoted grandfather. His obituary described him as a lifelong disciple of Kung Fu who strove to create happiness in every aspect of life, treasuring his family above all. Martys was known for his loyalty to friends, and his open-mindedness.

Investigators have learned that Lacchei had a history of confrontations with several neighbors on the street, and this was not the first time he was seen with a firearm. Neighbor JR McCarty revealed that Lacchei had previously pulled a gun on Martys.

The senseless shooting of Martys is part of a series of fatal incidents arising from trivial disputes in the United States, adding to the ongoing debates surrounding gun control.
