Witnesses said a group arrived at a home to confront a child’s father before one of the men was fatally shot.
LAUDERHILL, FL — A man died Friday after being shot in a Lauderhill neighborhood, where witnesses said a confrontation involving the father of a child took place before the gunfire.
Lauderhill police were investigating the shooting near Northwest 15th Street and Northwest 33rd Avenue. Officers who responded found the man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police. Fire rescue crews took him to a hospital in critical condition, and police later confirmed that he died from his injuries.
The man’s identity had not been released as of Friday night. Police also had not identified a suspect or said who fired the shots.
Witnesses told NBC6 that a group of people went to a home to confront the father of a child. One of the men who arrived at the home was later shot and killed, according to the witness account. Authorities had not confirmed additional details about what prompted the confrontation or how it escalated to gunfire.
Police described the location as an active scene while investigators worked in the neighborhood. Aerial video from Chopper6 showed police tape surrounding a home near the intersection as officers continued their investigation.
