Man confesses to killing at least 14 people

KIGALI, RWANDA – A 34-year-old Rwandan man, Denis Kazungu, has confessed to a series of heinous crimes that have shocked the nation. In a court hearing that took place on Thursday, Kazungu admitted to the murder, rape, and robbery of at least 14 people, the majority of whom were women.

Kazungu’s confession was delivered in a chillingly emotionless manner. The charges he pleaded guilty to were presented at the Kicukiro Court in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Despite the severity of his crimes, Kazungu was seen smiling as he was escorted into the courtroom by police.

The police investigation into Kazungu’s crimes led to a horrifying discovery of 12 bodies at his residence. Kazungu himself confessed to the murder of two additional victims, whose bodies have not been found. Among the identified victims are 11 women and one man, while the gender of the remaining two victims remains unknown.

Kazungu, who was without legal representation during the hearing, is expected to return to court on Tuesday. Police reports suggest that Kazungu would entice his victims from bars to his home in a suburb of Kigali.

While the identities of the victims are yet to be officially disclosed, a woman has come forward in local media, claiming to have narrowly escaped Kazungu. Authorities have also revealed that Kazungu used several aliases in an attempt to disguise his true identity. The horrifying discovery of the bodies at his home was prompted when Kazungu’s landlord sought assistance from authorities due to unpaid rent.
