MEMPHIS, TN – A man is behind bars after being accused of a horrific series of crimes, including sexual assault, burning a victim with a blow torch, and detaining her against her will for three days, as reported by Memphis Police. Marshun Foxx, 42, was apprehended on Monday and faces charges of aggravated rape in addition to aggravated kidnapping.
Police responded to a complaint in the 3600 block of Townes Street around 5:00 p.m. and met with a female victim. The victim recounted the ordeal, explaining that last Friday, a man she recognized as “Levi” approached her in a grey sedan on Jackson Avenue. An accomplice exited the vehicle, allegedly wielded a gun, and forced her into the car.
The victim was then driven to a barbershop on Jackson Avenue, where Levi departed, and the other man dragged her to a shed behind the shop. In the shed, the victim was allegedly coerced into performing sexual acts. When further attempts by the assailant were unsuccessful, she endured physical violence and was burned on her back with a blow torch.
Held captive for three days, the victim was eventually released. As police escorted her to Rape Crisis, she spotted her assailant, identifying Foxx, who was subsequently arrested and confirmed as the attacker through a single-shot identification by the victim.
An anonymous individual familiar with Foxx spoke to local media, remarking that Foxx lived in the shed where the victim was allegedly detained. The witness shared that he had avoided interactions with Foxx due to previous aggressive behavior and noted that women were frequently seen entering the shed.
The investigation is ongoing as the concerned community member expressed hope for justice, stating, “If he did wrong, he got to accept it.”
Foxx is scheduled to appear before a judge on October 9.
