Man bloodied in violent road rage stabbing

VALENCIA, CA – A road rage incident outside a Home Depot has left one man hospitalized and another in police custody. The altercation began as a minor traffic dispute but quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

Leon Hernandez, 39, recounted the harrowing experience from his hospital bed. He described how a seemingly routine disagreement turned dangerous when the other driver brandished a knife.

The conflict erupted when Hernandez and the driver of a gray Mercedes sedan exchanged words. According to Hernandez, the other driver exited his vehicle, knife in hand, and attacked him. The incident, captured on a bystander’s video, shows the suspect swinging the knife, injuring Hernandez’s left hand.

Hernandez recently underwent a 90-minute surgery to address the severe laceration that ran across his palm and thumb. Despite the trauma, he remains focused on recovery, especially with his wife deployed overseas with the Navy and two young children at home.

The Santa Clarita deputies quickly responded to the scene on Newhall Ranch Road and apprehended the suspect about a mile away. The video footage, along with witness testimonies, is now a crucial part of the investigation.

The suspect, who was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, is in custody as authorities piece together the events leading up to the attack. The video and witness accounts will play a significant role in the ongoing inquiry.

Hernandez, who owns a contracting business, expressed concerns about the road to recovery and managing his responsibilities while healing. Despite the challenges, he is determined to move forward.

The incident has sparked discussions about road rage and public safety, highlighting the unpredictable nature of such encounters.

The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice is served and prevent future incidents of road rage violence.
