A man opened fire on multiple people in Oak Forest before barricading himself inside a home that erupted in flames. The victim was a member of the same family, according to a neighbor.

Oak Forest residents were urged to shelter in place Friday morning as authorities responded to a barricaded subject. Central Avenue was shut down from Independence to 155th Street and 155th Street was closed from Long Avenue to Central Avenue.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call and found three victims with gunshot wounds. All three victims later died at area hospitals. Those killed were residents of the 5500 block of Ann Marie Lane. A child survived the incident.

Police said the shooter was still inside the home when the victims were taken from the scene. A fire was started inside the home and a fourth person was found dead inside.

At around 10 a.m., the city said there was “no longer a threat to the community” after an Oak Forest house fire.

Police and fire are investigating the incident on Central Avenue, and some Oak Forest community schools were sheltered in place.
