Man arrested for killing his 22-year-old sister and shooting his parents

MILWAUKEE, WI – A tragic incident unfolded in a quiet Milwaukee neighborhood, leaving a family shattered and a community grappling with shock. Last Wednesday evening, 32-year-old Gerardo Jimenez Rico allegedly turned a gun on his family, resulting in the death of his 22-year-old sister, Jocelyn Jimenez, and the injury of his parents. The family had just returned from a trip to Mexico before the violence erupted.

According to court documents, the police responded to a call at a residence on 40th and Cheyenne. Upon arrival, they discovered a scene of devastation: three adults had been shot, and one was deceased. The surviving mother reportedly identified her son, Gerardo, as the shooter.

In a chilling confession at a local police station, Jimenez Rico admitted to the shootings. He recounted a heated argument with his father over household chores, which escalated when his sister intervened. Jimenez Rico claimed longstanding grievances of being bullied by his family over his unemployment, which he said reached a breaking point that night.

The accused stated that he first shot his father, and when his sister allegedly confronted him with a knife, he fatally shot her. He could not offer a rationale for shooting his mother, leaving investigators and family members searching for answers.

The loss of Jocelyn Jimenez has left a deep void in her family’s life. Described by relatives as a kind-hearted individual, Jocelyn was known for her dreams of entrepreneurship and her dedication to her young daughter. Her cousin Karina shared fond memories of their frequent exchanges about their children and Jocelyn’s aspirations for the future.

As the community mourns, Jocelyn’s parents remain hospitalized, recovering from their injuries. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by the family to cover funeral expenses and medical costs, highlighting the financial and emotional toll this tragedy has imposed.

The legal proceedings for Jimenez Rico are underway, with his bond hearing marking the beginning of what promises to be a lengthy judicial process. The incident has sparked conversations about mental health and the dynamics of familial relationships, as loved ones strive to understand how a family dispute could lead to such irreversible consequences.
