ATHENS, GA – In the early hours of the morning, a tragic shooting incident involving the Athens-Clarke Police Department occurred at a QT gas station on Lexington Road. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed the event, which took place around 1:20 a.m.
Police were called to the scene following reports of a man armed with a machine gun near a Verizon store. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Marquavious Sims, fled from the Verizon store to the QT gas station across the street.
