Man, 20, charged with his mother’s murder

A 20-year-old man appeared in North Staffordshire Justice Centre, visibly distraught as he was charged with the murder of his mother, 54-year-old Suzanne Henry. The victim was discovered with severe facial injuries inside a house near Newcastle Road in Madeley, Staffordshire, on Monday night. She succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.

Finn Henry, the accused, was emotionally overwhelmed during the hearing, sobbing and holding his head in his hands. He confirmed his name and date of birth and acknowledged that he would be sent back into custody.

Initially, police responded to reports of a suspicious man on May 1st. Finn Henry was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Following Suzanne Henry’s death, he faced additional charges for murder while in custody.

Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, of the Major Investigations Department, extended his thoughts and condolences to the victim’s family during this tragic time. He acknowledged the shock experienced by both the family and the broader community of Madeley and expressed the department’s commitment to securing justice for the family and providing support during this difficult period.

DI Webb also expressed gratitude to those who had provided information and exhibited patience around the police cordon on Newcastle Road. He urged anyone with valuable information who has not yet come forward to contact the police as soon as possible.

Authorities continue to appeal for witnesses in the area between 5 pm and 10:15 pm on Monday to come forward with any information.
