Kidnapper and 4-year-old victim both shot dead by police

MACOMB, IL – Body camera footage released on Monday by the Macomb police revealed a shocking incident that took place when a police officer fatally shot a 4-year-old boy and the man who had kidnapped him. The shooting happened on March 16 when the police were directed to investigate a residence following a domestic violence report.

The shared footage, edited with narration, exhibited blood-stained stairwell walls along with terrifying screams emanating from an apartment. Subsequently, officers broke into the apartment, finding a woman bearing multiple stab wounds and a man later identified as 57-year-old Anthony T. George. George, armed with two knives, took the opportunity to run into a room when he emerged holding a knife to 4-year-old Terrell Miller’s throat, the son of the stabbed victim.

Consequently, one of the officers fired a single shot, killing both Miller and George.

Despite the outcomes, McDonough County prosecutors declared that no criminal charges will ultimately be filed against the officers implicated in the shooting due to the results of a review conducted by a specific prosecutor from the Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor’s office.

This story develops a week after another incident where a video released by the Illinois State Police captured a Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shooting a 36-year-old woman, Sonya Massey, in her home in response to her 911 call reporting a suspected prowler outside her home.

The deputy responsible for the fatal shooting, Sean Grayson, is now charged with first-degree murder and has entered a not-guilty plea. Following the incident, Grayson was relieved of his duties by the sheriff’s office.
