A freeway shooting that resulted in a car crash is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident took place on the westbound lane of Highway 24 near Lafayette, California, as confirmed by the CHP’s Contra Costa office on Wednesday around 11:00 am.
According to eyewitness accounts, gunshots were exchanged between two vehicles traveling in the westbound direction. In the midst of the alleged gunfire, one of the involved vehicles crashed into a Ford that was not involved in the dispute. The driver of the Ford, luckily, was not injured in the incident.
The two vehicles allegedly involved in the shooting did not remain at the scene and have since been sought by the authorities. The search for the suspects is ongoing.
For evidence collection, the westbound lanes of Highway 24 were briefly closed for less than half an hour. The CHP is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the CHP Contra Costa office in Martinez, California.
