Four-year-old girl stabbed in her backyard

PATERSON, NJ – A 4-year-old girl was discovered with multiple stab wounds in her Paterson home on Friday afternoon, prompting an immediate investigation, as per the Passaic County prosecutor’s office.

The incident was reported around 4 p.m. when police officers were dispatched to a home located near East 24th Street and 10th Avenue. The officers responded to a distress call reporting a stabbed child. Upon their arrival, the police found a severely injured 4-year-old girl.

The victim was rushed to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, stated the prosecutor’s office. The incident was described by Councilmember Luis Velez, who noted that the attack occurred in the home’s backyard while the child’s mother was indoors with another child.

A local resident recounted her experience of seeing the mother rush out of the house, holding her injured daughter and crying for help. She expressed relief that the paramedics arrived promptly and provided immediate care, adding that the community was hoping and praying for the little girl’s recovery.

While the investigation continues to unfold, no arrests have been made as yet. Police have not confirmed if a suspect has been identified. The prosecutor’s office has urged anyone with any information about the incident to contact them through their tip line or email.
