A jury convicted Tevin Favor of assaulting four women in separate incidents spanning more than a decade.
PHOENIX, AZ — A former Scottsdale personal trainer was sentenced Friday to 34 years in prison after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting four women in incidents dating from 2012 to 2024.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Stasy Avelar ordered Tevin Terrell Favor, 34, to serve four consecutive prison terms. The sentence includes nine years for each of three sexual assault counts and seven years for the fourth. Favor received credit for 59 days already spent in custody.
The sentence followed Favor’s May 28 conviction on four counts of sexual assault. The charges involved four women and separate incidents reported in 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2024. Court proceedings brought the cases together after the most recent investigation led authorities to review earlier allegations.
The 2024 case involved a 20-year-old woman who attended a house party near 36th Street and Camelback Road on April 21 of that year. Police said Favor gave the woman tequila, continued touching her after she moved away and later took her into a bedroom, where she told him to stop.
The woman told investigators that her memory became unclear as she grew intoxicated. She said she later became aware that Favor was sexually assaulting her. A friend helped her leave the room, police said. A hospital examination later documented minor injuries.
Investigators said Favor contacted the woman after the party and acknowledged that they had sex. Police also said he closed his gym, notified other clients and removed his social media accounts in the days after the reported assault. Officers arrested him June 5, 2024.
Several women provided victim-impact statements during Friday’s sentencing hearing. One woman said Favor had believed for years that he escaped responsibility, but the jury’s verdict allowed the victims to regain control of their stories. Another statement described the emotional harm caused by learning that other women had also been assaulted.
The hearing was briefly interrupted while one of the statements was being delivered. Avelar said she heard Favor make a comment and warned him not to interrupt again before he was given an opportunity to speak.
Favor’s former girlfriend and a former employee spoke on his behalf. His former girlfriend described him as caring, protective and loyal during their relationship. Their statements did not alter the judge’s decision to impose consecutive terms for the four convictions.
Favor had previously faced a sexual assault charge connected to a separate 2018 allegation. A jury acquitted him in that case in 2020. That acquittal was separate from the 2018 conduct included among the four counts that produced the latest convictions.
Arizona State University has said Favor appeared on its 2012 preseason football roster as a walk-on but never played for the team. He later operated a fitness business in Scottsdale before his 2024 arrest.
Favor will remain in state custody under the 34-year sentence. No additional hearing or appeal schedule had been publicly confirmed as of Saturday.
