LOS ANGELES, CA – A violent incident unfolded in South Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, leaving six people hospitalized after a drive-by shooting. Among the victims are five women and one man, all of whom were struck by multiple rounds fired from a dark-colored sedan.
Authorities believe the six individuals, who range in age from 30 to 60, were unintended casualties caught in the crossfire of suspected gang-related violence. The assailants, believed to be three teenage males, sped away from the scene immediately after the attack.
LAPD detectives have been meticulously examining the crime scene on the 400 block of West 74th Street, near Figueroa Street. The pavement was littered with dozens of shell casings, and at least one nearby vehicle was riddled with bullet holes. Detective Dean from the LAPD’s 77th Division Gang Enforcement Detail confirmed that the suspects exited their car before opening fire.
One of the male victims was discovered at a nearby intersection, potentially linked to the same shooting spree. This individual is currently receiving medical treatment, while the conditions of the other victims remain under close observation.
Residents of the neighborhood, a community all too familiar with such violent incidents, expressed their frustration and sorrow. One woman, who claimed to know the victims, lamented that this type of violence has become a grim norm in the area.
The LAPD continues to investigate the incident, trying to ascertain whether the shooting was indeed gang-related and to identify any connections between the victims and the suspects. As the probe unfolds, police urge anyone with information to come forward.
