Five people shot, four killed, in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV – A tragic incident unfolded in a northwest valley apartment where four individuals were fatally shot, and a child was left critically injured, in what authorities are terming a murder-suicide.

The victims, three of whom were under the age of 14, were discovered at the Loreto & Palacio Apartments on Oso Blanca Road, near Durango Drive and U.S. Highway 95, as per Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Robert Price. The horrifying scene was first stumbled upon by the alleged shooter’s sibling around 10 a.m., who promptly alerted the authorities.

According to Lt. Price, the brother entered the apartment and was confronted with a gruesome sight of several individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. On arrival, the police found a man, a woman, and two children dead, with another child critically injured who was immediately rushed to the University Medical Center.

The man, who was under house arrest, is believed to have shot the woman, children, and himself. Lt. Price mentioned that there was some connection between the shooter and the victims, but did not elaborate further. He also indicated that it was too early to confirm whether there was a history of domestic violence at the residence.

Lt. Price took the opportunity to address the issue of suicide, particularly during the holiday season, emphasizing that help is available. He expressed regret over the incident, stating, “It doesn’t have to end like this.”

Residents of the Loreto & Palacio Apartments were informed of the incident via email. The message stressed that the event was isolated and that local law enforcement was conducting a thorough investigation. The southwest corner of the complex was cordoned off by the police, with several law enforcement and emergency vehicles parked outside.
