FedEx driver killed in fiery highway crash

DEERFIELD, IL – A FedEx driver met a tragic end in the wee hours of Tuesday when his semi-truck crashed and ignited on Interstate 294 in Deerfield, Illinois. The Illinois State Police Department and the Northbrook Fire Department confirmed the unfortunate incident.

Responding officers found the semi-truck in a fiery state, having collided with a guardrail. The force of the crash was such that the driver was hurled from the vehicle. Video evidence from the scene showed the semi-truck ablaze, with packages from the truck scattered across the interstate.

The driver, whose identity is yet to be disclosed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, was rushed to Glenbrook Hospital. Despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Firefighters spent hours battling the inferno, which not only consumed the semi-truck but also one of the trailers it was pulling. The Illinois State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

FedEx has remained silent on the incident, with no comment or statement released as of yet.
