MIAMI BEACH, FL – A father-daughter duo finds themselves at the center of a major fraud investigation after allegedly swindling over $600,000 from a homeowner. The pair, identified as Christina Franco and her father, William Richmond, also known as Vladimir Maistrenko, were arrested at Elite Home Furniture Store on Biscayne Boulevard.
Investigators revealed that the suspects presented themselves as the owners of the furniture store, promising high-end Italian millwork for a Miami Beach home. However, the promised work never materialized. Instead, police allege the funds were redirected for personal expenses, including mortgage defaults and legal fees.
The arrests unfolded dramatically as Miami Beach police, not there to shop, apprehended the suspects. Officers from the strategic enforcement team utilized the element of surprise, similar to the deceit experienced by the alleged victim.
According to the arrest report, wire transfers from the victim were intended for business purposes but were misappropriated by the accused. The funds were siphoned from Elite Home Miami’s account to cover personal financial obligations.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims and have urged anyone affected to contact the Miami Beach Police Department or Crime Stoppers. The case has captured significant attention, with a pending lawsuit from one victim’s attorney highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Police are continuing their investigation, hoping others who may have been defrauded will come forward. The stakes are high, with the potential for more charges if additional victims are identified.
