.
The event was reported around 1:15 p.m., with Prince George’s County Major Crimes Division alerted to a disturbance at the cemetery. Upon arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims, an adult male and female.

Although the woman’s injuries were serious, they were not life-threatening. However, the man was unable to overcome his wounds.

Authorities, probing the unfortunate incident, affirmed that the victims’ presence at the funeral was unrelated to the deceased child whose ceremony was underway.

Police believe the shooting resulted from a conflict separate from the tragic events leading up to the funeral or the ongoing investigation into the child’s death in Washington, D.C.

In the aftermath of the shooting, one suspect was taken into custody, adding a new thread to the evolving investigation.

The funeral in progress was for 10-year-old Arianna Davis, a victim of an earlier violent act. Arianna was tragically killed in a shooting that occurred while she was riding in a car with her family in Washington, D.C. on Mother’s Day. The investigation into her untimely death remains ongoing, with the FBI offering a reward for relevant information connected to her killer.
