GARDEN GROVE, CA. – A suspect was taken into custody following a hit-and-run incident that left a family of five, including three children, severely injured in Garden Grove.
The collision occurred Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Haster Street and Twintree Lane. Authorities reported that two adults were riding bicycles and towing the children in trailers when the vehicle struck them.
The injured family members, a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman among them, were rushed to a nearby hospital. Three individuals were reported to be in critical condition.
Surveillance footage captured the moments leading up to the crash, showing a black car speeding down the street. A local resident who witnessed the accident immediately ran to assist the victims, with subsequent video footage revealing the damaged bicycles scattered on the road.
The driver, identified only as a 29-year-old man from Santa Ana, fled the scene. However, a witness followed him and provided information to the police, who apprehended him shortly thereafter. He now faces charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
