HOUSTON, TX – A road rage incident escalated into gunfire early this morning on Interstate 45, at the North Main entrance, leaving one man injured. According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the scene shortly after midnight following reports of a shooting.
The altercation began when a driver became frustrated with a slower-moving vehicle ahead. The situation quickly intensified as the agitated driver exited his car, initiating a confrontation with the other motorist. Witnesses report that he began pounding on the other driver’s vehicle.
In response, the driver of the front vehicle, who holds a concealed handgun license, warned the aggressor of his firearm before discharging it, striking the man once. The victim was promptly attended to by an arriving sergeant from the Central Division and was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Houston Fire Department. He is currently in stable condition.
