Driver plows cyclists, sending multiple to the hospital

DELRAY BEACH, FL – A morning collision in Delray Beach has resulted in seven people, a driver and six cyclists, being transported to the hospital, according to local law enforcement.

The accident, which occurred near the Gulf Stream Golf Club on North Ocean Boulevard around 6:45 a.m., left the involved silver SUV and bicycles in a state of wreckage. The aftermath of the accident saw the SUV’s front end significantly damaged and bicycle debris scattered across the road.

Delray Beach Police Department’s public information officer, Ted White, reported that three of the cyclists were designated as trauma alerts. The current health status of the driver and the other cyclists is yet to be disclosed.

North Ocean Boulevard, starting from George Bush Boulevard, has been temporarily closed due to the accident. The timeline for the road’s reopening is yet to be determined, according to White.

The investigation into the incident is a joint effort between the local police, Gulf Stream Police Department, and the Florida Highway Patrol. More information is expected to be released as the investigation unfolds.
