NEW CASTLE, DE – A devastating car crash occurred in New Castle, Delaware, late Wednesday night. The incident claimed two lives, a woman and a child, and left a minimum of six people with injuries. The collision took place at the intersection of Airport and Christiana Roads around 11:30 p.m. and involved three vehicles.
The bone-chilling incident, caught on surveillance video, indicated that a speeding Kia rammed head-on into a minivan as it executed a turn from Christiana Road onto Airport Road. The impact resulted in the minivan violently tumbling over multiple times. Additionally, the Kia also struck another vehicle that eventually skidded to a stop in an adjacent gas station’s parking area.
Emergency services are grappling with handling at least eight individuals injured, with more information expected from the Delaware State Police.
Survivors include a woman driver expected to recover from her injuries and a male driver who suffered a broken leg, among other injuries. Two children were critically injured and rushed to the hospital.
As the investigation unfolds, many pertinent questions remain unanswered, such as the reasons behind the Kia’s high speed and the number of passengers in each vehicle at the time of the crash.
