Dead body found inside sleeping bag on the street

NEW YORK, NY – A ghastly find was made on a Manhattan sidewalk on Friday evening when authorities discovered a dead body hidden in a sleeping bag. Set atop a dolly for collection, the remains were placed among black garbage bags put out for trash disposal. Local law enforcement was called to investigate a “suspicious package” outside an East 27th Street location in Kips Bay around 5 PM.

Observing the disquieting scene, local resident Ted Oehmke noted that it appeared as if the individual responsible had gone through considerable effort to ensure the body was adequately wrapped and left in plain view.

However, he expressed surprise at the attempt to dispose of the remains amongst regular trash bags set out for collection by sanitation services.

Adding to the chilling nature of the discovery, Oehmke expressed that, while he often sees people asleep on local streets, it was shocking to come across an actual body amongst the everyday detritus. The police have yet to disclose any identifying information about the victim, such as their gender or age.

The foul play’s involvement in this incident remains uncertain, and the cause of death is to be determined following an examination by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
